I have received recently a few mails from recruiters inviting me to a web development agency. From the description they do web sites, portal, intranets etc. I have now experience with these companies of this type, so if anyone could provide an insight it would be much appreciated.

Am I correct in associating them with that kind of work, where you have stress, panic, missing deadlines and angry customers calling you all the time because they don't like some little thing on some page? Or is it just a version of a development shop with the focus on web portals rather than on enterprise web application?

I really enjoy a relaxed atmosphere where I currently and would not want to lose it. Am I in danger here if I went to that kind of agency?

In general? That's going to be hard to say since there are many factors that make up a working experience. I'm sure that there are sweat shops as well as great companies to work for in that industry (just as in any other).

I think you're better off finding more about this particular company. That way you can make a decision about them and not about the type of business they are.
