Does anyone know of an online app or an app for mac that will optimize images to be smaller in size for use on the web? It needs to be able to support .jpg, .gif and .png

Thanks

Thank you for all your reply's, I currently already use Photoshop to reduce the sizes of the images with the Save For Web and now I am trying to reduce them more. The Firebug extension worked pretty good. Really like that a lot better then YSlow.

See the guidelines from Google's Page Speed plugin for FireBug. In addition to listing some programs to use, the plugin itself compresses images as it analyzes your site, making the compressed images available through the analysis report.

It only provides tools for JPEG and PNG, however (though it does suggest using PNG instead of GIF in almost all situations).

That is a very broad question. How much do you want to pay? Are you looking for lossy or lossless optimizations? Adobe Photoshop and ImageReady for the Mac easily support all of those formats and can perform various optimizations. Not cheap, however.

A very low tec solution is Preview. It should come with your Mac ;) In the menu use tools->adjust size and change the resolution.
