What are some good game programming web sites, blogs, newsgroups, and podcasts? There is GameDev.net and the Game Development Algorithms list ([email protected]). What other sites, blogs, etc have you found on game programming?

Gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com) is pretty great, it's run by the guys behind Game Developer magazine.

Also, a few I read that are updated relatively often:

Check the blogrolls for blogs these authors read too.

I know you said you're familiar with www.gamedev.net but you may have missed that several community members keep blogs at http://www.gamedev.net/community/journals/. Some are better than others so be prepared to have a dig through.

There are lots of good game design blogs on the web but not so many good programming ones, perhaps because most of the professionals aren't allowed to post their code. Or maybe they're working too long hours to find time to write blog entries! ;)

While not specifically programming oriented, The Independent Gaming Source (tigsource.com) is all about indie games. Because of their focus on indie games, there are also many programmers hanging around sharing information you may be interested in.

Though I'm not sure if it's used much these days, this newsgroup used to be awesome: rec.games.programmer
