Looking for a book or website recommendation concerning radiosity rendering. I need something that a beginner can digest but is detailed enough that the reader could then actually implement something.

A:

The classic is Foley, van Dam, thingy, thingy. Not a light read, but clear and comprehensive. It covers radiosity, but doesn't seem to have it all in one place, but is rather discussed as part of illumination in general.

I also have 3D Computer Graphics (3rd Edition) by Alan Watt here, and it has a whole chapter on radiosity. But, that book was still uncracked until you asked this question. (I'll get to it someday...) Just glancing at it, it looks rather dense in presentation. There's actually some calculus two pages in!

The best source for finding anything of this nature tends to be the "Graphic Gems" series of books and it's sister series - GPU Gems, Game Developer Gems etc. The articles generally discuss at a overview level but include pseudo-code - so may be just the level you're looking for.
