On MySite Creation in SharePoint, How Do I Add a Customized My Home Page?

Hi,

I need to add a customized My Home Page, using a specified page layout, on the creation of a new My Site in SharePoint (2007). Can anyone give me any pointers on how to do this, preferably without modifying the Master page (as detailed here)?
