We want to develop a new monitoring system to bring visibility to the status of our enterprise systems.
Instead of using Microsoft SCOM or similar tools we thought of having a more technologically advanced approach. We thought of using a similar concept like igoogle / LIVE gadgets and to display them in a gadget container. The type of gadget could be changed and every user could choose the right gadgets important for him.
Are there already frameworks and solutions available which would support this scenarios? We are still not sure if it would be better to have an internal web based solution / or an external solution using igoogle / LIVE.
All data points might be available via REST webservices.
Are there any ideas out there?
