Does anyone know any presentations or talks talking about the Wow architecture?

Servers, programming etc...

EDIT: How is this not programming related? When it's google's or facebook's architecture it is interesting enough to produce hours of video material or multiple PHD theses. I would very much like to know how the world is divided or problems they encountered along the way...

The GDC Austin had a talk on this, and Gamasutra covered it up here

Not very technical, but it contains some interesting data about the server layout and how the programming teams are distributed.

The WOW servers were reverse engineered some time ago. If you did enough poking around, you could probably find the source and look more into how the game interfaces with the WOW servers.

Here's a start: http://digg.com/gaming%5Fnews/Create%5Fyour%5Fown%5Fprivate%5FWorld%5Fof%5FWarcraft%5Fserver%5F

stackoverflow wants to urlencode underscores and digg hates it. try this: digg.com/gaming_news/Create_your_own_private_World_of_Warcraft_server_
