I have read this question.

My question is whether WPF Unleashed is still the most recommended (since the question is over a year old)?

Also, what do you think about WPF Recipes or Pro WPF?

I quite like this as well:

Applications = Code + Markup A Guide to the Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation by Charles Petzold

Unleashed was great as well, and I personally enjoy the 'Pro' series books.

Neither new books are released on WPF nor anything new has been added in this 1 year.

Yeah, still

  1. WPF Unleashed (Sams) - 2006
  2. Applications = Code + Markup A Guide to the Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation - 2006
  3. Programming WPF - 2007
  4. Pro WPF - 2008

are the best books available on the subject.

I personally suggest

Applications = Code + Markup A Guide to the Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation - 2006

or

Pro WPF.

If you ask me to name just one: its "Pro WPF"

Nope!! I didn't go through WPF Recipes. But from the name I guess that its not for someone who wants to learn WPF. I mean, its for someone who already know WPF and is wondering "how to do this using WPF?". This is learning the hardway. I may be wrong, but the term "Recipies" forces me to say this.

For what it's worth I started working knowing literally nothing about WPF, and Pro gave a decent introduction to all the things I wanted to do from the off (simple XAML, data binding) and is a good reference for some things I wanted to do later on.
