self-hosted online photo editor?

I am looking for an online photo editor like http://services.snipshot.com (Javascript) or picnik.com/info/api (Flash) but I need one that I can host on my own server.. been searching for a while but no results.. any ideas?

I also love the idea behind pixenate.com/productinfo/Overview.html but its so expensive.

You're probably not going to find one. All the solutions i've ever seen are commercial. $250 for the basic edition isn't really that expensive either. Your best bet is to roll your own, or save up.

You can see if Aviary allows you to self-host somehow, or if it can work for you in some other way. They mention a "pro plan" of some kind for $24.99/year. Why specifically do you need to host it on your own server?
