I run Word 2003 in unattended process to convert a word doc file into a tiff. Word is configured to print to Microsoft Office Document Image driver and then pick up the generated file. It works fine on a 32 bit OS.

Now we need to migrate this app on a 64 bit OS and it looks like there is no such driver in the Office 2003 installation on a 64 bit box.

So my question is What can I use instead of it on a 64 bit box?

You could use the XPS Printer driver and then convert the resultant PNG / JPEG to Tiff using some other image conversion package. As far as I can tell from the documentation it only supports PNG and JPEG.

You can use Aspose.Words for .NET. It will work happily in a 64bit OS either in a 32bit or 64bit application. The rendering feature allows to convert documents to PDF, XPS, images or print. Converting to multipage TIFF is supported.

Does not work for me. The printed document should look precisely as if it was printed from Word - including margins, fonts pictures - everything. No 3rd party package I've seen - aspose included - can do that

Well, our ultimate goal is to print exactly as MS Word so even government agencies can use AW for some serious stuff. I think we are pretty close, so check back once in a while. Unfortunately there is no "fidelity certification", otherwise we would have applied :)
