I am new to CACTI. I have created a disk utilization graph in Cacti for a widows server. A CPU Utilization graph and user graph are alo there for the same widows server.

Right now how the graphs behave is: The user graph shows around 15 users logged in all the time except for a particular time frame (say 1pm to 2pm). During this time frame, an additional user is also shown in the graph.

For the CPU Utilization and the Disk Utilization, the graph always run through the base line except for the above mentioned time frame. During that time the CPU Utilization graph and the Disk Utilization graph shows a peak. I dont have visibility to the server to see what all are the activities happenenig in it.

So my questions are:

  1. We can assume some process is running on that server during that time and the rest of the time, the server is idle. Then why the Disk utilization graph is only shown during that time?

  2. How Cacti process the data for the Disk utilization graph?

  3. Will it be shown only when the system is not idle?
