I am trying to learn MVVM and WPF, but most WPF books seem to teach you how write your software the wrong way.

So is there a WPF and uses MVVM for its examples?

Tim Heuer just had a blog post recommending this book, "Advanced MVVM" by Josh Smith. It assumes prior knowledge of WPF, but apparently does a great job of teaching the MVVM pattern from that perspective. Maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but might be of some help?

Josh Smith, one of the "pioneers" of MVVM, recently published a book about it: Advanced MVVM

However, this book assumes that you already know WPF, and other books about WPF don't teach you MVVM... So I don't think there's any book that fits your bill right now
