From your own experience, what was the online recruitment website you felt worked most for you? Which one you get more phone calls through?

For UK/Europe, I swear by www.cwjobs.co.uk

I've found my last 2 contracts/jobs there. It also seems to have less rubbish than others.

Just to throw up some Ireland specific info. I've had good experience with all these from both a hunting & hiring POV.

Whenever I talk to agents here in the UK they normally seem to prefer JobSite.co.uk when searching for CVs and JobServe.com for advertising. I have noticed the response changes over time as the job boards change their features and pricing. I tend to register on all the boards I can find in order to reach the widest market possible. If you only limit yourself to one board there will always be buyers in the market that do not look at that board.

The only one I know of is the non-WTF job board, which doesn't seem to have too many entries.

Personally I prefer Monster. I found my current job with it.

As other people have mentioned, you might want to check out the Non-WTF Job Board as well, if you are interested at quality positions.

I've used craigslist to bypass all of the agencies that advertise on bigger job boards. Just go to the page for the city you're in (or want to be in), and go to the jobs section. Mostly smaller companies with low/no budget for hiring advertise there, so be warned that in bypassing the agencies, you're also bypassing the Googles and Microsofts.

Half of what I see on craigslist are recruiters. Often there are multiple posts for the same job. And you don't even know who the recruiter is since they hide behind the craigslist anonymous addresses. I wish there was a way to search by principals.

About 90% of what I see on CareerBuilder are recruiters. Also, last time I used either one was 9 months ago, so it's quite possible that the recruiters have infiltrated Craigslist since then. They'll go wherever we look for jobs. :(

I've found it doesn't really matter what online jobs board you use, its how you proceed after making your application that counts.

I have used jobs boards on 3 occassions and found that in the vast majority of cases, unless you follow up with a call to the recruitment agency/company your CV gets thrown on the pile and forgotten about.

I always ensure that I ring the company within at least 5 days of making the application to ensure that they got my CV. This helps your case because it causes the person to go looking for it to confirm its there and voila, you're at the top of the pile.

In the UK, I stick to jobserve.com and monster.co.uk.
