I'm trying to find a good Church Management System (ChMS). Essentially, a CRM for churches. My budget is about $0...so open source or in-house development is preferred (and by in-house, I mean me). I'm wondering if anyone could make some recommendations as to possibilities? I'm open to SaaS solutions as well. For those interested in more details...:

  1. I've looked at Zoho CRM and while I like it, they only offer three licenses free, an insignificant discount for non-profits, etc.
  2. I've looked at Salesforce's NPSF which is nice but almost too much for a small church. Additionally, its taking a long time to jump through all the hoops necessary to get the licenses.
  3. I'm wondering if some combination of Wufoo and similar SaaS apps. might offer what I'm looking for?
  4. I've looked at Google spradsheets...if only they had a db application. :P

Its really pretty simple what I need...something to maintain contact info., to remember important dates, to keep dates, to schedule followups, etc.

You might want to look at ChurchInfo, at http://www.churchdb.org/. It's open-source (development project at http://sourceforge.net/projects/churchinfo/develop).

Jacob - thanks. they are a good option and one I am considering. Personally, I am an ASP.NET / VB.NET developer and if I'm going to go with an open source project, would like to find something in a tech. I'm already familiar with...but I forgot to mention that in my initial question!
