I'm looking at installing atmail as a replacement to my home-grown system for internal member-to-member emails on my website.

Currently, these messages are kept in mysql.

All of the IMAP servers I've come across keep emails on the filesystem, I'm guessing there are allot of good reasons that there are not many implementations using mysql as a back end out there.

As far as manageability goes though, I think mysql is the way to go for my site... There are many more tools available for interacting with mysql than for instance mbox files.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

-Eric

Update: It looks like dbmail might be a good fit.
