This look like it would work http://code.google.com/p/pysocialnews/source/checkout. Pretty much any Python or Java clone you find on the web should work with no problem. That's the first reliable one I could find though. Hope it helps!

App engine uses the Datastore for a database which is non-relational. Thus the app would have to be custom written for app engine.
