For my 2.0 exams it was simple - I just bought the MCPD Self-paced Training Kit which contained the books for exams 70-536, 70-526 and 70-548. But now that I want to update my certification to 3.5 (prior to going to 4.0) via exam 70-566, I can't seem to find what books to buy for studying purposes (besides revising the previous exams). I'm guessing I need the 70-505 book at least, but I'm pretty sure I'm missing something else.

Those who have done this upgrade exam, what did you use to get through? I already have extensive (2+ years) experience with 2.0 and a decent amount with 3.5, so I don't need to start from ground level, as it were.

Unfortunately there won't be any Traning Kits for MCPD level exams according to Gerry O'Brien. They just aren't cost effective.

I'm planning to take 70-566 soon and here is my plan:

  1. Go through the 70-505 Traning Kit (including the practice tests) to make sure I know all the MCTS level stuff.
  2. Skim through the 70-548 Training Kit to prepare for the MCPD level questions.
  3. Review the 70-566 Skills Measured and fill in any gaps with MSDN study.
  4. Use an Exam Pack to give myself a second shot in case I tank the exam the first time.

Good luck!
