I am trying to log outbound email traffic on an IIS server. I installed a tool called "IIS SMTP Monitor" that seems to have received favorable reviews, and the tool is also recommended on the Microsoft site.

It essentially monitors the SMTP pickup folder. We never get anything to show up in the log except for the first email. Maybe the SMTP server is too fast picking these emails up? Is there a way to slow down the polling, or is there another tool that you could recommend that does this?

Maybe I'm not understanding your question completely. Can't you simply enable logging on the SMTP service? It's not on by default I don't think. It should be in the properties for the SMTP server instance in either IIS or Exchange (if you're using it) management consoles.

I have logging enabled for my MS SMTP server on Windows Server 2003 and it works as I'd expect.

Logging is enabled, but I want the email body logged as well. The SMTP service does not give me the option to log the email body (or at least some portion of it).

I see, sorry about that!
