I work in an agency that uses many different databases; Informix, Oracle and SQL Server among others. In this era of reducing costs I have started to look for an Open Source tool capable of converting the schemas from those products to Postgresql and Mysql. Though I have in the past used Erwin and various Embarcadero tools, I want to limit the search to reliable open source alternatives. Does anyone have a suggestion of a product or products they have successfully used?

This is not opensource but is much less expensive than either ErWin or other tools. I have used it without problems for several years. Supports PostGresql, and Mysql.
