Hi,

Google reveals rather old reports. How is the current situation? It would be nice to have percentage figures by framework version.

Thanks in advance,

Katey

Netcraft has some interesting stats http://news.netcraft.com/

Chad Grant
Ok... but how do their stats relate to this question?

@chills the site publishes articles on .net penetration from time to time and has stats on IIS vs Apache penetration. But there are many factors that prevent any real solid statistics without going door to door

Concerning Silverlight penetration, RiaStats.com is the only solution I found until now.

- Those figures are 4 years old- I think the only userful target audience is the Windows user base- "Why wonder?" Curiosity ?

It depends on what market..

Most of the enterprise market likes multi-platform (from my experience anyway). You can certainly build front end .net clients connecting to a DB on a Unix server.. .NET is nice for those SMBs (small, medium businesses) because simple in house applications can be built to automate processes.. I work for a Large company that uses "non .NET" technologies, but I use .net to build small apps to increase my teams productivity.
