The Word documents I am trying to combine all have Headers and Footers, and I'm trying to combine them into one file while keeping the individual formatting of each document intact. I am using Word 2003 (XP Pro).

I have tried a few different approaches already like placing the cursor in the Master document where I want to insert another Word Document and choosing from the "File/Insert" menu, but that messes the formatting of the Master document up.

I have also tried the [INSERTTEXT] command, (example: INSERTTEXTC:\My documents\XXX.doc] - according to directions I've found online, but it gives me an "Error! Bookmark Not Defined" error message.

Is there someone who knows the correct method or additional steps for either of these procedures, or an entirely different one that works - bearing in mind that I don't want to lose the formatting of the Master Document or any of the documents I insert into it (Headers, Footers, Pagination, etc.)
