I saw the posting about the Best Tail Log Viewer, but it does not support filtering or sorting of custom column names. I've been testing out the Kiwi Syslogd, and you have to pay for the ability to sort and filter.

Does anyone know of a log viewing software tool that also supports filtering and sorting?

I believe Apache Chainsaw supports filtering and sorting. It works with log4j style logs, not sure if it supports other logging formats.

Weird. How do I point it to my logfile? The structure of the user configuration is strange.

The Best Tail Log Viewer has, what was in fifth place, a link to LogExpert, which has filtering and highlighting features. I can't locate any log viewers that have sorting, which kind of makes sense as logs are usually viewed chronologically. The highlighting and filtering more than cover any need for sorting.

Additionally, it has extensable columnizers which allow you to custom-define your columns in any log file. Once some more columnizers are written, this will be super powerful.
