Hi there,

I am having a hard time when installing SQL Server 2008, it complains that my performance counter registry hive consistency, and gave me a link as follows:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300956

Cool, first step, not possible to do, asked me for a CD of Vista, my laptop comes with an OEM version of vista, no CD provided, boot up disk does not have the file they need.

Then I tried to find some other sites, some people copied some registry on Windows 2003 and use that on Vista, well, I don't have Windows 2003, not helping.

Then they said I can use the command lodctr/R, cool, ran, nothing happened, still failed.

I am running out of ideas and not sure what to do, sigh...
