I'm going to work on a project with requires extensive knowledge about LDAP. I do already know the basis of LDAP concepts and I have used LDAP for very simple stuff.

I'd like a book that makes a quick introduction to LDAP and then enter the hardcore stuff like security, schemas, replication, multiple directories and such things.

What LDAP book do you recommend?

Some good book references with descriptions (take your pick).

Understanding and Deploying LDAP Directory Services is one of the earliest books, written by the Nestcape guys who pioneered LDAP. It's pretty comprehensive on the design and architecture side without getting into specifics of particular LDAP servers.

LDAP System Administration from O'Reilly is another useful book on the subject
