unable to open object explorer in ssms 2005

hi, My comp name is ZM-DB48B9. I've two operating systems installed in my computer. What should I give as Server name when Authentication is "Windows Authentication"? Please help asap.

Is SQL Server installed on your Computer? If it is, your server name would be 'ZM-BB48B9'

Ok.

• I've installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.
• Then I installed SSMS 2005.
• Both are installed in XP professional OS and the instance of the OS is "pm".
• As mentioned before my comp. name is "ZM-DB48B9".

1. I've tried to give the server name u've mentioned, but "can't connect to remote server" error is coming.

2. I tried "ZM-DB48B9\pm" too, but same thing happens.

3. Searched MSDN, its mentioned there to give the server name as-"\"----plz check the url "http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms166996.aspx".
