Hi, Can any one out there suggest a microsoft tool similar to Red Gate's sql promt,sql compare,sql data compare etc.Any help is appreciated.Thanks

I do not think that microsoft produces anything of the sort. What are you trying to achieve? use MS only tools? or MS technology? (Red Gate tools are all .NET to my understanding). I have seen other 3rd party SW for comparing DBs, etc. but RedGate remains the strongest overall in my opinion. Matej

No. Microsoft does not produce tooling with equivalent functionality. If they did there would be no market niche for Red Gate. Essentially you have to persuade your PHB to get something made by somebody other than Microsoft.

Note that this is also not unusual in Oracle circles - Quest Software do very nicely out of third party tools for Oracle that plug similar gaps in the tooling Oracle provides.

SQL Server comes with a command line tool called TableDiff (located inside the SQL Server Program Files directory).

This can compare the data in two tables. It is primarily used for replication, but is sometimes useful when you want a quick comparison of the contents of two tables.
