I know "Getting Real" from the 37signals? What else?

joelonsoftware is a must read.

It's a blog, but he has bundles of articles organized in "top 10 for " for ease of navigation among 100s he posted.

Oh, and he's the guy who co-created SO :)

Another blog source is Paul Graham's site - just for reference, he's a guy who created and then profitably sold what became Yahoo Stores.

I recommend Joel on Software by Joel Spolsky. I really do.

From Program to Product, by Rocky Smolin. Easy to read, I liked it (am pretty hard to please when it comes to books).

Could you split these in different answers so that they can be voted on separately?

G'day,

Have a look at the book "Eric Sink on the Business of Software" (sanitised Amazon link).

And here's his blog.

This is a great book to learn the basics of marketing software. Also a lot of good stuff on Eric's blog.

An excellent read for someone starting out as an independent developer/mISV. (But I am probably biased as I was interviewed in the book!)

Another good reading, though not a book is the Business of Software Forum:

There are a lot of guys who post there that are small business owners and who own great blogs, among them:

That "non-programming books" poll has many other software business related books that seem interesting, such as this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/38210/what-non-programming-books-should-programmers-read/104698#104698 (haven't read it though, so I can't recommend it)
