If this is a plugin you're using, check if the demo on their website works in IE, if it does then there is something wrong with the way you've implemented it. Try creating a more simple example.

jQuery is supported by IE, but since the plugins are authored by 3rd parties, they may not be.

I think is the jQuery who supports the IE, not viceversa. From version 6 that is.
