Do you know any good resources where I can read and learn about ontology, semantics and web mining?

It could be a book, a website or any other resource.

I read OWL by Lee Lacy. It takes you through RDF, RDFS, and OWL. It is a pretty easy read and explains the concepts from a high level with specific code examples. It is also a short book without excessive fluff. Since it is written from a perspective of theory more than practice or how-to it can be a tiring read.

Also, KAON has a lot of very good documentation. It is an ontology specification based upon RDFS just like OWL.

I had to look at this subject last year and found the conference notes from the Vienna SWDB-ODBIS 2007 conference Semantic Web, Ontologies and Databases a very useful stating point.

I have gotten a lot out of the book, Semantic Web for the Working Ontologist, by Allemang and Hendler. Don't be put off by the name, you don't have to be an "ontologist" to benefit from it. The book is written by two people with very good credentials in the Semantic Web field, and has excellent pedagogy.

In terms of books, it is probably better to list your recommendations at the similar Stackoverflow question "Recommend a Semantic Web book".

In terms of other resources, the co-ode project hosts many tutorials and resources, although the project itself is finished.

The ISWC and OWLED conferences have up-to-date, yet more development centric, material refering to talks and papers accepted for each year.

For a specific case, the Neurocommons project is an interesting example which aims to make scientific knowledge and data more accessible through via Semantic Web Technologies. The site also provides a general overview on some technologies and definitions.

However, for a general introduction to the "Semantic Web", with appropriate references, it is hard to look past the Semantic Web wikipedia entry (as mentioned previously).
