Hi all

I'm looking for a project management tool which supports the following features:

  • standard resource administration across multiple projects
  • user-defined project properties fields, which can be used to filter projects.
  • project data stored in a database, such that externally generated data pertaining to projects can be directly imported.
  • local application (i.e. not a web-based interface)
  • open-source (ideally)

I'd be grateful for any hints. Since we haven't found any suitable existing tools, we are looking at developing our own tool using the Faces library.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards, Ham

I've only heard of dotProject, which is web based.

Sorry, just saw you wanted it to be a local application... my bad.

dotProject is pretty much dead anyway... you might want to check out web2project instead.

Why would a web-based interface be so bad, if the product can be installed locally?

Agilefant, an open-source project and project portfolio management tool, would probably meet your criteria (apart from the non-web-based). It's also being actively developed. You can try the live demo to get the idea of what Agilefant can do.

I suggest you to start with proofhub because in starting we easily build software after that it’s difficult to switch. It really helps you in handling your projects and designs.
