No matter how hard I try, I can't spend more than 4 hours a week given all the other commitments.

If it was more than a day's work it wouldn't be a hobby it would be a part-time job.

Too much.. but then sleep is highly overrated.

The real trick is to find a job which is your hobby :-)

Agree with the real trick :)

-1, A vacuous answer plus advice that will fail 99% of the time. It works as a flippant aside, but as the "answer" to the question it's misplaced.

What's your answer then Edmund? I tend to spend anywhere between 0 and 15 hours a week on my hobby project (which is now rapidly becoming a business).

I spend about 5 to 6 hours a week on mine. But, I am trying and hoping to make my hobby project my full time job.

A:

About 3-4 hours per day on weekdays, a good 6+ hours a day on weekends.

I don't have a hobby project. If I start something up I mean business.

I tend to do it in bursts, but it will average out at a couple of hours a week. Sometimes I wish I had more time to devote to it, but other times I simply can't face more work-away-from-work.

I have a nasty habit of looking in on a project last thing at night; just a peek, thinking about what to do next. Next thing you know it's the early hours of the morning and you are already halfway through stage 3. I think I do my best work at this time ironically!
