Facebook Connect - Show/Hide login button

I reference this questions: Show Hide Login Button

Basically I've used the answer in this question to handle the show/hide the facebook login button, however when I go to different pages, the original login button shows up, then realizes I'm logged in and switches to my profile picture. Basically there's like a small delay happening.

Any idea why this is happening and more importantly, how would I stop this from happening?
