Well, it figures that Loadrunner is not easy to install. Apprently, we need:

➤ .NET Framework 3.5
➤ Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 SP1 (or later)
➤ Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1
➤ Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0
➤ Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86)
➤ Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)
➤ Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 2.0 SP3 for Microsoft .NET Redistributable Runtime MSI
➤ Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 3.0 for Microsoft .NET Redistributable Runtime MSI

Once done, I'm still trying to figure out how to execute this thing. Has anyone gone through the same experience with it ?

I assume that you are attempting to do some load testing of a particular application. If you have installed with the default settings, you should be able to record any of the supported protocols.

Various QA forums, like www.sqaforums.com should help getting started. I have also used www.wilsonmar.com. Wilson Mar has a great understanding of the HP/Mercury tools. As a last resort you can tap into the HP support site, which is bad at best, but you can find some white papers on the whole load testing thing.

What is it you are trying to do?

If you can download the LoadRunner setup file off the HP site or any other site that provides the complete setup, you won't have to worry about the prerequisite software's.. like the ones you have mentioned in your question.

Recently I installed the LoadRunner 9.0, which I downloaded via the HP site. I just followed the setup instructions and installed it successfully. It has limitations since it's a trial version.
