build small website - which tool ?

hi

i need to build small website for a friend (some text...some pictures...some video...),

which tool will be sufficient ?

asp.net (C#) , front-page , simple html ......

i know C# in WinForm, front-page and html i dont

I'd have a look at a blogging tool/content management system. Wordpress or Drupal / Joomla ? Oh and they are all free :)

Simply HTML will be good enough. Have a look at w3schools for some tutorials on HTML and CSS.

Also hosting of a site will be less expensive as you will not require asp.net, php or databases etc installed.

For a simple website, you cannot miss with Wordpress. But at the end of the day, it all depends on what customer wants.

As far as frameworks go, check .NET MVC

For small ASP.NET projects, use Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express (VWDE), its free!

I'd recommend google sites. Free, lots of style templates, full of features and gadgets, easily linked to Google Docs, Analytics, Picasa Image Album etc.

Lately I've been directing any friends with similar requests to Tumblr. It's free, hosted, unbelievably simple, and has a growing set of free themes. Absolutely no technical skill is required, but you do have the option of customising if you know what you're doing.
