yes, I saw the related questions

I'm looking for a book which explains the fundaments of parallel computing: basic terms, types of paralellism, but also (can be several books actually, I don't mind) explains how for example, one could go about connecting (software and hardware-wise) 24 pc workstations in view of running some numeric model calculation (changing that code is another problem).

This is an experiment really, which some of my coleagues at university are doing, so all advice is appreciated. Expecially, if someone here has advice from his own experience.

post scriptum :: This isn't an exact question, but it's narrow enough. Since I want people who do give some concrete advice to get rep, I'm not making it CW.

Well, you are asking about special branch of parallel computing known as Grid Computing.

For start you can check IBM Redbooks Fundamentals of Grid Computing.

Since you are asking for a book recommendation for a practical intro, I can recommend a Grid Computing: Practical Guide To Technology & Applications.
