VS Express 2008 - Embed manifest does not work

Hi,
I have tried the guideline for embedding manifest into the application. I have created manifest file and in the project setting, I have chosen the manifest from the list. However, the file is always in the Publish directory. The same result I get when using "Embed manifest with default setting". Why? I would need to have only executable, nothing more. Err, I know I can delete them..but you know. Thanks
