Hi all,

I want to install Kannel gateway on windowsXP.For that i downloaded the cygwin and installed.After that when i want to configure the kaneel i got the following errors.I set the PATH as C:\cygwin\bin;C:\libxml2-2.6.30+.win32\bin;

Sounds like you didn't install gcc when you installed cygwin. Rerun setup, selecting gcc for installation.

Well, my first guess is that you haven't actually installed all of Cygwin. The default installation does not install every single package, just a subset.

That's why I always changed the install type to 'Full' when I'm running setup.exe.

Whether gcc is included in the standard install, I don't know, since I never install the standard one. However, it should be in /usr/bin/gcc, the same as my system, and which is on your path. Open up the bash shell and execute:

ls -al /usr/bin/gcc

to see if it's there.

Mind you don't get hopes up too high with Cygwin's gcc. There are quite a few coders and developers who, while they may have heard of GNU C++ and are vaguely familiar with how it works in other L/Unix distributions (Sun SPARC, HP/UX. Debian/Ubuntu, etc etc ad inf. ad naus.), these same folks may never have heard of Cygwin. Often one encounters a situation where "compile" flags are necessary, and these are not 100% guaranteed to work with Cygwin either.

Part of the Cygwin 'mission and purpose' was to give those already familiar with command-line Linux and Unix (as well as X11) a chance to 'keep their hand in,' as the saying goes, to not only not lose their skills and knowledge but improve and add on them. It is not, as one of the developers is wont to say in many if not all of his posts, meant to "run everything Unix under the sun, nor Linux either."
