MS Press Self packed Training kit Exam 70-536, by Tony Northup and Shown Wildermuth.

I have bought this book year ago to get prepared for the exam, but I did not because I was so busy with my job.

  1. Is there a better resource that save my time.
  2. Is this a good book.
  3. For best estimations I think it will take like 6 months tell I pass the test.

Is there a way to reduce that time. Given that I have 3 years of programming experience 2.5 of them using .Net. I don't want to cheat using test-king. I want to learn.

Thanks

I found the book disjointed, repetitive, too formulaic and containing errors in places (including in some of the answers to sample questions if I remember correctly).

That said, unfortunately, there isn't any other good resource for studying for this exam. The book does at least cover all of the material that you will need to know, so it can provide a good starting point for a quick bit of Googling to learn in more depth if you find the book lacking.

It also comes with a CD of sample questions which are worth having a go at.

If you are a competent developer with the level of experience you mention, you should not have much difficultly with this exam. I passed it after around a year and a half of working as a dev and it took me about a month to read the book. You will probably find that you know most of the material already, so much of it will just be a refresher.

If you are looking for a more detailed and in depth C# book, I would recommend either Pro C# (although there is a .net 4.0 updated version due out soon), or CLR via C#. Both are excellent.

I would recommend avoiding getting a dump of the questions as someone has already suggested, you are only cheating yourself as you won't actually learn anything. It will also only serve to devalue the qualification for others in the long term.
