New project, to transfer existing Windows App to Web, Document based database with Report query and generator.

What CMS sytem would be best?

The answer is Drupal!

I worked with this CMS for few years now. It is esy to install, easy to maintain. There are hundreds of various modules available, and with things like CKK or Views you can create basically anything you want.

Still - It would be easier to recommend particular Drupal modules if I knew more about your application, but believe me or not - you won't regret going with Drupal.

The existing App has lots of Text based reports, (1000's) each report is associated with a series of Date fields for the progress of the report through the system, users run queries on the dates to find particular reports, then print the report

I am using the CMS system called Modx www.modxcms.com. I am impressed with the quality of the result and the organization of the codes, uses of web standards to their base.

It has less than the Drupal modules, but there is a good organization. Here is a very good tutorial that is worth -> http://codingpad.maryspad.com/beginner-tutorials/

I'm a big fan of ModX. Not only is it really simple to use, but it has most features I need to just get stuff done.
