Outlook Add-In to read out emails causes frequent update of emails in Outlook

Hi,

I'm using outlook 2007 and a C# add-in to read out the emails from outlook (outlook is reading them from gmail using IMAP). but, the problem is when the add-in is installed outlook often goes on updating the emails (like: send/receive 65%....). Also, it becomes unresponsive at that time. What could be the problem?
