Help me understand AsynchFileUpload

I have used YUI's(2.0) file upload feature to upload file asynchronously which work using IFrame technique. There is also SWF/Flash based solutions available.

Now i have come across ASP.NET Ajax control AsynchFileUpload now this is something new to me. I tried to find more information to find more inputs on this but probably missed or failed to find.

Can some one help me understand how this work (SWF/IFrame or something else).
