I'm involved in a project whose goal is to create a web based portal to allow consumers to to search a database of local services. The services are to be organized in categories, but raw search is also to be provided and should lead to a flexible presentation of the relevant services and also some "premium listings" in addition to organic. The search will also be based on zip code.
Ideally, there would be a means to allow a service provider to register themselves, pending approval, into the directory.
I'm looking to see if an off the shelf solution is available that can be customized (not to reinvent the wheel of search directory).
Ideal solution would also support (or provide) a CRM interface on the backend so that both CRM (B2B) and searchable directory (B2C) could be maintained with one data source.
