1) What kinda projects do web dev's work on?

2) What languages should you know? (in order of learning first)

3) Whats the field like? How much money would you make versus just securing websites (web security only)?

A:

1) Anything from simple static HTML web sites, to enterprise scale web applications.

2) This depends on many factors and is very subjective. Obviously you need to know the web-specific technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Beyond that, the language that you use for the 'back-end' can be almost anything. Some of the more popular ones are PHP, C#, Java, Ruby, etc.

3) Salaries vary by region and experience level. It's a good field in terms of effort for income, though. Google for some of the salary surveys and you'll get a decent grasp.
