Hi,

I'm investigating the options in accepting monthly recurring direct debit payments online.

There seems to be alot of providers who offer services for credit cards but i've been unable to find any well known service that accepts direct debits.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks

A:

In the US you cannot accept PIN based debit cards online because you are unable to capture a user's PIN number which is required to process the payment. PIN numbers must be entered in an encrypted PIN Pad or similar device and cannot be entered in a regular computer keyboard which is unencrypted. The encryption is different from SSL so just using a secure order page is not sufficient.

Whomever gave me a down vote want to explain why as this is 100% correct and true?

Not guilty. But I suspect its because in the UK direct debits are nothing to do with payment cards. Its a direct bank transfer. I'm also not sure why the question is closed, its as valid as all the other questions asking for help with choosing a payment service provider

That's why I specifically mentioned this applies only in the US. :/

Sorry John, I think you've misunderstood my point. This answer is not relevant to the question. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_debit is what the questioner is talking about. I suspect you're thinking of debit cards.

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.
