I am trying to get PNRP connectivity working between a Windows XP machine and a Windows Vista machine on my internal network (as a first step to getting it working from outside my network).

I have set up a WICN on my Vista machine. I can ping the WICN from the same Vista machine (hardly surprising really), but I cannot ping it from the XP machine.

I have used the following command to ensure that the global cloud on the Vista machine is in a healthy state.

I have also added an exception for UDP Port 3540 to the Windows firewall (do I need to do something with my broadband router?).

I've also tried varies things from the following link (http://blogs.msdn.com/p2p/archive/2007/07/24/pnrp-debugging-guide-part-1.aspx) but with no success.

Any suggestions on how to get the name resolution problem resolved.

A:

WICN works only from vista & above. Try creating a name using "netsh p2p pnrp" or PNRP API. Use this PNRP name to resolve the ipv6.
