Can anybody tell what is the use of android widget in android

Widgets are like a tiny UI element (or group of elements) that can be placed on Home Screen of any Android device. These are useful if you want your users do not need to open the app each time to view small information like

• application status
• current weather
• CPU time
• word of the day
• currently playing music, qucikly Play/Pause buttons
• new mail notification
• any other quicky information from your app
