We have encountered a problem with our Sharepoint 2010 installation, after IT decided to move everything onto a new network domain. Everything was fine, although we had to replace all the farm accounts from the old domain with the new domain including the Managed Accounts inside the Central Admin site.

However, this week the old domain which was still running was switched off, but we still had the farm account from the old domain in there (didn't allow me to delete it, still thought it had items associated with it). This caused some errors, but we got everything back, however now when i go to manage the managed accounts it seems to have resolved the olddomain account to the same domain as the new domain account, so now there are two.

This causes errors when I try and edit them, or even go into manage service applications or service accounts. With the error:

Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: 'domain\user' Key being added: 'domain\user'

Which i believe is when its trying to load the ManagedAccountPicker control on the page, this looks like its the duplication problem thats causing this.

Is there anywhere I can remove the reference to this duplicate managed account, i've looked in the sharepoint databases, but can't find a solution...

I've tried removing the user via sharepoint management shell too, this gives a slightly different error of:

Remove-SPManagedAccount : The specified user or domain group was not found

If anyone can help this would be appreciated... however I am considering just starting again with a fresh installation of sharepoint 2010, then importing a backup of the content database

thanks
