I am a new user to stackoverflow and have realized it isn't too beginner friendly and I need to ask a lot of silly questions.

So, I imagine this question is more valuable than any of my others.

I am looking for GOOD web development forums, mainly php, but please do send over all your recommendations. But I am looking for certain criteria to be met:

  • must be active
  • strong, active members (no newbies passing about bad advice)

Any recommendations?

For php, I have to say http://phpfreaks.com is fantastic!

EDIT:

Thanks for your comments and answers below, though they are all related to my criticism on stackoverflow. Don't get me wrong, I have found the information here absolutely second to none. There are TONS of high quality posts.

However, I have also found people simply ignore beginner questions. It just feels, to me, that the general community doesn't have time for ignorant questions.

..and yes, I have lots of ignorant questions.

I really don't want to divert others away from the site because I have become a big fan very fast, but I persist - I want to know what forums you well versed programmers (mainly php) use?

Thanks!

I've found StackOverflow to be extremely useful, and I'm a beginner in a lot of languages. Just be friendly, always attempt to find the answer for yourself BEFORE asking (use Google or search StackOverflow) and be coherant. If you follow those guidelines, I don't see why you'd have any issues.

Also, W3Schools has a nice simple tutorial for PHP: http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp

Thanks! I certainly don't mean beginner beginners :-) I have a lot of experience with php. I mean when it comes to the validity of a question. I lack certain fundamental concepts and so I have some stupid questions. Also, I VALUE the information here more than almost any place. Especially google mainly because they don't have their search results rated.
