What's the best free online project management software? I need it for my small team...

I've enjoyed using Redmine (http://www.redmine.org). You have to host it yourself, but it's very powerful and flexible.

There are dozens - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_project_management_software - and without actually having requirements and a plan, they'll all fail for you.

I agree with CaseySoftware about there being a list on wikipedia. However, the problem with a list like this is that the companies need to be quite big to be on the list. What we found as a big problem is that these large systems, and the companies behind them, are not very flexible.

We started off with one of the systems on the list, but after being promised functionality for more than 2 years we changed to VisionProject. That was the best move we did.

Anyway, to find good links I would today go to web-based-software.com. Of course, this is a place where companies in the different categories put ads, but it is a list where you can find most systems that are anything to have.

Take a look at Intervals, which combines time tracking and project management. And there is a free plan that is available.
