Team, thank you all in advance for your input on this. The client is experiencing an issue that we have not been able to recreate
Site: www.pebblebeach.com
Issue: Client is experiencing an extended lag/delay in loading the ‘mega-menu’ on the homepage. The mega-menu sits on top a large Flash panel (roughly 1 Meg). Seems to only be an issue with MSIE 7 & 8 on specific hardware.
Notes:
- Mega-menu timed delay set to 500 milliseconds
- MooTools JS used for mega-menu
- swfObject is used to pull in Flash panel
- Flash panel is app 1 Meg
- Flash player on client's computer is 10+
Laptop experiencing issue: 3 or 4 year old Dell, WinXP SP3, IE7, Norton IS (disabling Norton IS had no effect on mega menu functionality)
Notes from client:
Homepage fully loaded. Hovered over PACKAGES and it stuck, evidenced by the hover state of the “Share” link in the bottom right of screenshot. The mega menu disappeared after a few seconds in this case, but in other instances it was stuck for more than 15-20 seconds. The mega menu didn’t actually function properly until a few minutes after the page was loaded.
I'm in IE8 and the mega menu took about 45 seconds to load. When it finally did, the hover got stuck in one section even though I was trying to scroll over to hover over another. It also didn't fade when I moved my mouse off the menu.
Issue is only on the homepage. The menu works fine on every other content section.
I work in a Windows 7 environment. I have Kaspersky and Microsoft security essentials. Since the mega menu works in every other content section, I don’t think this has anything to do with the problem.
Even after I hard refresh, the problems continued on the home page.
